The Acadiana Wreckin' Rams (4-2, 3-0) used a very workman like effort last Friday to defeat the Comeaux Spartans 50-11. Acadiana played well in all three phases of the game, getting two tochdown runs from Jayrin Wilson and Ziggy Francis, and a touchdown run from Myles Hutchinson.

The defense did its part as well, allowing the Spartans only one scoring drive on the night.

Special teams did their part too, recovering two squib kicks that bounced off of Spartan players and turned those short fields in to touchdowns. They also earned a kickoff return for a touchdown from Jayrin Wilson.

This Friday, the Wreckin' Rams face their oldest rival, the Lafayette High Mighty Lions. The Mighty Lions come into this game very angry after giving up a hook and latteral to the Wreckin' Rams late in the game last year. Also, the Lions need three victories in their last four games to have a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

The Wreckin' Rams need to continue to play good ball as they have moved to number 17 in the unofficial power ratings on Louisiana Sportsline. If they can get in the top 16 by season's end, they're guaranteed to host at least one home game in the playofffs.

The schedule for District 3-5A looks like this; power ratings in parenthesis:

Acadiana (17) at Lafayette High (44)

New Iberia (38) at Sulphur (27)

Comeaux (47) at St. Martinville (29)

Barbe (23) at Sam Houston (32)

Next week is homecoming as the Wreckin' Rams host the Sam Houston Broncos.

The game can be heard over the air in the Acadiana area on ESPN1420, on the internet at espn1420.com and on the free smart phone app radioPup.
