The Carencro Bears play host to the Beau Chene Gators on Thursday, to kickoff week 10 of the 2016 high school football season.

The District 4-4A contest will be one of two games in the Acadiana area on Thursday evening, that will be a prelude to a number of big regular season-ending match-ups on Friday.

Both Carencro and Beau Chene are 7-2, overall, as well as 2-2 in district play

Carencro has been an offensive juggernaut all season, scoring 40 or more points in 5 of their 9 games, while averaging 40.4 points-per-game this season.

In their two losses, a 37-28 setback to St. Thomas More, and a 39-38 defeat to Teurlings, the Bears lost by only a combined 10 points.

Beau Chene hasn't played the schedule that Carencro has, but they have unquestionably had a good year, with an opportunity to win 8 regular season games.

Interestingly, like Carencro, both of Beau Chene's losses have come to St. Thomas More and Teurlings, falling to the Cougars in week six, 42-7, and to the Rebels in week seven, 31-7.

The Gators have played solid defense all season, holding the opposition to 14 points or less in 6 of their 9 games this season.

In District 3-4A, Rayne will visit Crowley on Thursday night.

The Wolves need a win to pick-up their 9th regular season triumph, and a win, couple with a LaGrange loss to Washington Marion, to win the outright district title.

Again, the Carencro/Beau Chene, and Rayne/Crowley games begin the tenth and final week of the regular season action in Acadiana, with a host of big games tomorrow night.

In District 3-5A, Acadiana will visit New Iberia, while Comeaux will be on the road to take on Lafayette High. Acadiana needs a win, and a Sulphur loss to Sam Houston to win the district title, while Comeaux will be trying to clinch a winning season.

In District 3-4A, Rayne will visit Crowley. The Wolves need a win to pick-up their 9th regular season triumph, and a win, couple with a LaGrange loss to Washington Marion, to win the outright district title.

In District 4-4A, Northside will visit St. Thomas More, who has a chance to conclude an unbeaten district record, while Teurlings will travel to take on Opelousas.

In District 5-4A, Cecilia will host St. Martinville, while Abbeville entertains Westgate. The Bulldogs will be playing their second parish rival in as many weeks, after a big win over Breaux Bridge last week, and can secure an outright district crown, while both Abbeville and Westgate will be searching for their first district wins.

In District 5-3A, Northwest will host Port Barre, while Church Point will travel to Ville Platte, and Eunice hosts Pine Prairie. Northwest will be looking to wrap-up an undefeated district record, but a perfect regular season slate as well.

In District 4-3A, Iota will entertain South Beauregard, while Jennings travels to face Iowa.

In District 5-2A, Catholic High (New Iberia) hosts Notre Dame, while Delcambre entertains Sacred Heart (Ville Platte), Opelousas Catholic hosts Jeanerette, and Loreauville hosts West St. Mary. Obviously, the big one here is Catholic High and Notre Dame. Both teams are ranked in the top ten, with both teams undefeated on the season.

In District 5-1A, St. Edmund is at Basile, while Westminster visits North Central.

Finally, in District 7-1A, Ascension Episcopal will be playing host to Central Catholic, looking to wrap-up an undefeated season, while Lafayette Christian hosts Vermilion Catholic, Highland Baptist hosts Centerville, and Hanson visits Gueydan.
