In a battle of Bobcats, it was the workhorse who was the difference.

Erath's Elijah Mitchell was not ready for his incredible high school career to end on Friday night, rushing for 331 yards and 6 touchdowns as he carried his team to a road playoff victory over the Eunice Bobcats, 49-20.

It didn't take long for Mitchell and Erath to get on the board, capitalizing on a Eunice fumble in its own territory and scoring from three yards out to give them an early 7-0 lead. Mitchell did the honors again on the next drive, this time scoring from 33 yards out to increase the lead to 14-0 with 4:48 left in the 1st Quarter.

After Mitchell's third touchdown of the game came early in the 2nd Quarter, Eunice's offense woke up, as Jaden Brasseaux capped off an impressive drive with a QB sneak into the end zone, cutting the lead down to 21-7.

After the Eunice defense came up with a stop, Brasseaux led the offense on another scoring drive. This one ended with RB Avery Lee taking it into the endzone from 7 yards out, cutting the lead down to one touchdown with 48 seconds left in the 1st half.

But, Mitchell would strike again. This time, from 61 yards out, as Erath scored another touchdown, doubling their lead to 28-14 just before the Half.

Mitchell would go on to add another couple of touchdowns in the 2nd half as Erath cruised to the playoff victory.

Up next, the Erath Bobcats head back home as they get ready to host the top-seeded West Feliciana Saints in the 2nd Round of the Class 3A state playoffs.
