It was a sweet Senior Night at Lafayette High Mighty Lion Stadium as LHS jumped out early on the Sam Houston Broncos and rolled to a great victory, sending their Seniors out with a win in their last home game of their careers.

It was a sophomore that put the Mighty Lions on the board first, though, as RB Corren Norman went five yards for an LHS touchdown, giving them their first lead in a ballgame since a Homecoming loss against Cecilia in Week 5. Norman then scored another TD, this one from one yard out, as the Mighty Lions took an early 14-0 lead with 4:34 left in the 2nd Quarter. Both touchdowns came after the Mighty Lions defense forced turnovers deep in Sam Houston territory.

Coming out of halftime with a 14-3 lead, Senior RB Trey Davis took the ball on the first play from scrimmage and raced 67 yards for the Mighty Lions' third touchdown of the night. QB Brennan Broussard then found TE Hunter Merry on a 1-yard pass in the endzone on their night drive to increase the lead to 28-3.

QB Dustin Jackson would toss a couple of touchdowns later in the game, one to WR Jonah Baker and the other to WR Noah Jackson, as the Broncos wouldn't go quietly.

But it was too much Trey Davis for the Sam Houston defense to handle as he scored a second touchdown of the night with 5:32 left in the 4th Quarter. Davis finished with an unofficial total of 188 yards.

The final score was 35-17 in favor of the home team.

Next week will wrap up the 2016 season for the Mighty Lions as they will look to upset the playoff-minded Comeaux Spartans. Kickoff Friday night is set for 7:00 p.m. as Ian Auzenne (play-by-play) and Brandon Comeaux will have the call.
