The perfect season is complete. The Acadiana Wreckin' Rams go a perfect 15-0 as they defeat Destrehan 8-3 to capture the Class 5A State Championship. This was their first State Title since 2014 and the fifth in their program's history.

It wasn't the most well-played game on offense for the Rams as they turned the ball over three times fumbling twice inside the Destrehan 10 yard line killing positive drives.

However, on the other side of the football, the Acadiana defense was up to the task and consistently squashed whatever momentum the Wildcats thought they had grasped. The Wreckin' Rams were able to turn Destrehan over one time on the night as well. It came on the Wildcats very first drive as the defense forced a Quincy Brown fumble.

The only touchdown of the game came on the second Acadiana offensive possession of the game when Keonte Williams surprised the Destrehan defense with a play-action pass. The defense was so fooled that running back Dillan Monette was able to sneak past the defense for a wide-open 56-yard touchdown catch.

In addition to the turnovers, Acadiana also had a couple of touchdowns that were called back, one because of a block in the back penalty shown here...

and this one that was called a touchdown on the field but was overturned with replay...

Despite all of the misfortunes, the Acadiana Wreckin' Rams were still able to come out on top as Dillan Monette was named the Player of the Game. Monette rushed 21 times for 153 yards and the one catch of 56 yards for the touchdown.

On the defensive side of the football, the Rams were led by junior MLB Derreck Bercier who had eight total tackles, two tackles for loss, and the lone forced fumble. Also, junior DE Thaos Figaro added three tackles all for loss and his fellow junior DE Cameron George had a sack and the big-time safety.

As for Destrehan, they failed to score a touchdown on the game and their leading rusher senior Kyle Edwards who's committed to Alabama was held to just 47 yards on 13 carries.

Their senior QB, Damarius Jackson threw for just 74 yards on 10-19 passing as their big-play senior wide receiver Quincy Brown was held to five catches for a mere 19 yards.

Nevertheless, what a way for the high school football season to end, with the Acadiana Wreckin' Rams on top.
