This is a season preview, written by the voice of the Wreckin’ Rams, James P. Bitterman.

The Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams enter the 2015 season with numerous question marks.

First and foremost, two excellent coaches have retired; Coach Jud Broussard, defensive line and Defensive Coordinator and linebacker Coach Dawson Durbin.  With Coach Durbin running the defense Acadiana was 3-0 in State Semi-Final games beating teams with a combined record of 37-2 and holding them to 10 points.  Some younger coaches have some HUGE shoes to fill.

On offense the Wreckin’ Rams return two starters from last year.  One on the offensive line and one at wide receiver.  Let's look for a learning curve on the offensive side of the football.

The defense is in a little bit better shape, with heat seeking missiles Kevin Moore back at linebacker and Jayrin Wilson at Free Safety. Note to opposing players - go across the middle at your own risk.  Also returning on defense is Malik George at defensive end and Javonte Edmond at corner back.

The thing that amazes me most is Acadiana only has 62 players out for varsity football.  WOW!  I can never remember the Rams numbers being that low.  Every man will need to contribute to the best of his abilities.

Also, another change is Father Tom is now in Ville Platte and Monsignor Mallet is the Pastor at Saints Peter and Paul.  Hope Monsignor Mallet realizes the Wreckin’ Rams won three State Championships in Father Tom's 6 years as Pastor.  No pressure Monsignor!

Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams 2015 schedule

All games can be heard on ESPN1420, espn1420.com and smart phone app radioPup.  Pre game will be at 6:02 p.m. with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.

9/4  Northside - this will be the battle of attrition game as Northdside has 40 players and AHS has 60.  Two storied programs fighting for survival.  Disappointing.

9/11 at Ponchatoula - I'm sure they are going to be geeked up to play the rams after that great playoff game in the second week of the playoffs last year.  One of the BEST games ever played by the Wreckin Rams.

9/18/15 Carencro - the Bears are now in 4A, but this has always been a good rivalry

9/25/15 at Barbe - a Monsignor and 3 priests are copied on this e-mail; so I won’t say what we all know.

10/2/15 Sulphur - always a tough minded program

10/9/15 Comeaux - will never forget the hurt leaving Central in 2008 when the Rams lost to Central and Doug Dotson was central's defensive coordinator.  Now Doug is the head coach at Comeaux.

10/16/15 Lafayette High School - for the old timers; this game brings back a lot of memories.
When I asked Coach Damagio if I could broadcast this game he said as long as I did not utter the words hook and lateral.

10/23/15  Sam Houston - a tremendous defensive play saved the Rams last year.  My memory tells me, Sam Houston returns most of those huge offensive linemen.

10/30/15 Open Date

The last game vs New Iberia will be on Thursday, November 5.  This game will be broadcasted on kpel fm, 96.5, kpel965.com and smart phone app radioPup.

The Yellow Jackets were young last year and had some growing pains; those growing pains should pay dividends this year.

This will be a very challenging year for The Wreckin’ Rams with the departures of two excellent coaches and a lot of talent.  Remember the Wreckin’ Rams get no bonus points for winning State Championships in 2013 and 2014.  If anything, the target on the Wreckin’ Rams backs is even bigger.
