Another Homecoming night. Another blowout loss for Lafayette High.

A week after losing their own Homecoming game to Cecilia High, it didn't get any better on Friday night as the Mighty Lions fell to the Barbe Buccaneers on their Homecoming night, 53-7.

Barbe came out of the gate scoring touchdowns, with QB Luke Richard tossing two touchdowns in the 1st Quarter. In the 2nd Quarter, sensational RB Kirkland Banks took the baton, scoring two rushing touchdowns and returning a punt return for a TD. This was all sandwiched around a third passing TD for Richard.

By the time halftime rolled around, Barbe was up 40-0.

The Mighty Lions did eventually get on the scoreboard, as safety Uche Utomi scored on a punt block. But, by that time, Richard had tossed another touchdown pass and safety Darian Brooks added a pick-6 for the Buccaneers.

Up next for LHS (1-5, 0-1) is crosstown rival Acadiana High at Bill Dotson Stadium.
