After being robbed by the LHSAA, Catholic High-New Iberia is on the war path. Can it fuel them against the untouchable Notre Dame Pios?

Logic would tell you no. Notre Dame is #1 in the LSWA polls for a reason. Their defense only allowed over seven points once this season. Teurlings Catholic was the only squad to come even close to competing, and they're a 4A powerhouse. It would take an inspired, gutsy, irrationally energized performance from Catholic High-New Iberia to pull off the upset...but they might have every single item on that checklist.

Panthers Head Coach Brent Indest is a fiery dude. Teams feed off the energy of their leader, and rest assured he's not happy about forfeiting four wins because of a special teams player that barely affected the outcomes.

If it weren't for the swift hand of LHSAA justice, Catholic-NI would be prepping for the playoffs. Now, this game against Notre Dame is suddenly do or die. With their current position in the power rankings, a win is necessary for a playoff berth. It's the brutal truth, but it also might be the only fire that could light a team up to stay with the Pios. It will take a little something extra from the motivation department.

Catholic-NI's sophomore QB Diallo Landry was developing chemistry with Seth Pierre and the rest of the offense before the LHSAA put the clamps on their progress. A win over Notre Dame would be much more than a building block for the future. It would be a testament to the coaching and courage of this current regime.

The problem is, Notre Dame is frighteningly good. They're consistent, disciplined, physical...everything you expect from a Lewis Cook coached team.

Due to some nasty weather, this incredible game will be played on a Thursday. Don't let that deter you. This game is absolutely worth taking the trip. There's a chance Notre Dame could walk all over Catholic-NI and wrap up their undefeated season dominantly. I just don't see the Panthers going down like this to end the season...
