Louisiana Verizon Customers, Time Running Out to Claim Your Piece of $100 Million Class-Action Settlement

If you are a current or former Verizon customer, time is running out for you to claim your share of the $100 million class action settlement fund.

Affected customers can get up to $100 each if they file a valid claim by April 15.

What was the lawsuit all about?

The lawsuit alleges that Verizon customers were hit with an administrative charge as part of a "deceptive scheme."

Verizon denied any wrongdoing but agreed to the payout.

Who is eligible to receive payment?

All Verizon customers in the United States who “received postpaid wireless or data services from Verizon and who were charged and paid an Administrative Charge and/or an Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge between January 1, 2016, and November 8, 2023″ qualify for a portion of the $100 million fund.

What are "postpaid" phone plans?

Those are the opposite of prepaid plans in that you sign a contract with a phone provider and then you're billed monthly based on your usage.

Affected customers should have received a notice about the settlement. If you received a notice, you can use the "notice ID" and confirmation code provided to file a claim online.

What if I didn't receive a settlement notice?

If you believe you are eligible but did not receive a settlement notice, you can file online by entering your Verizon account number and last name.

How much money will I receive?

The amount of money each claimant receives is ultimately dependent on how many people file claims and how long each person was a customer of Verizon. The minimum payment should be around $15 with the maximum around $100 per person.

Once the settlement is approved and final, payments will be sent by check or electronic payment.

The final "kicker"

According to the settlement, Verizon actually plans to keep charging this administrative fee but has agreed to amend its customer agreement to better disclose it.
