The Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams (1-0) opened their 2017 football season with a hard fought victory against a tough and scrappy Kaplan team last Friday night at Bill Dotson Stadium.

Acadiana opened up a 14-0 halftime lead behind touchdownruns of 3 yards from Jaylon Borel and 7 yards from Ziggy Francis.  Turnovers plagued the Rams in the second half. Kaplan took advantage to close the gap to 17-12, but the Wreckin’ Rams were able to hold on for the victory.

This week the Wreckin’ Rams host a Ruston team that snapped Neville's 50 game home winning streak last Friday night, 19-10.  Ruston scored on 3 of its 5 first half possessions, with 2 of the touchdowns coming on 4th downs.  Running back DeAndre Marcus had 135 yards rushing and touchdown on 28 carries. Multi-faceted talent TE/FB/DE/LB Tahj Samuel had 2 catches for 2 touchdowns, while also leading the Bearkat defense with 18 tackles.

The Wreckin’ Rams will have to improve their play this Friday night for a formidable opponent like Ruso.

Prior to this week's kickoff, Jacob Cutrera will be recognized as Acadiana's only player to play in the NFL.

The game can be heard over the air in the Acadiana area on ESPN1420, on the internet at espn1420.com and on the free smart phone/tablet app RadioPup.  The pre game show starts at 6:02 p.m. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
