Lafayette Christian Academy Head Coach Derek Landry joined our weekly coach's show, live from Mellow Mushroom, and he brought Regan Miller along.

The Knights picked up their first win in District 7-1A play over Gueydan, and Zach Clement led them to the win with over 300 yards rushing and several breakout plays. He never would have gotten the chance if Miller, the original starting QB, wouldn't have approached his coach with a selfless proposition.

Miller was knocked out of the Loreauville game with an injury, and Clement filled in finely. After the game, Miller approached his head coach and asked if they could make a move in the backfield. Miller stepped back to help the team step up, and Clement's coming through for his teammate.

"Zach's arms are almost as equal as his legs," Miller said. "Gueydan, they just weren't respecting his legs."

After his change to running back, Miller said he feels more relaxed. When asked what his position on the team was, he said "athlete." It looks more like the title is "leader."

Miller's head coach spent a solid chunk of time talking with Steve Peloquin and Gerald Broussard, and they walked their way through the season behind and the road ahead. With an incredibly tough schedule, LCA is hoping to catch their stride in district play and rack up enough power points to get an invite to the playoffs.

"We feel like we can finish up really strong and make a push into the playoffs," Landry said.

For such a young athletic program, progress is all you can ask for. Will the Knights step up this year to move forward?
