Week Nine of the High School Football Forecast highlights The Civil War with Cecilia and Breaux Bridge, Teurlings and Carencro, and a District 3-5A shootout.

The Civil War isn't just one of the biggest games this week, it's one of the biggest games every season. The Bulldogs come in with only one loss, by only one point, to Crowley. Aside from that one tough loss, Cecilia has been lighting people up. An already potent run game with Raymond Calais Jr. is complimented by an equally dangerous passing game. Pick your poison covering Rusty Robin and Kenya Dartez on the outside because Landon Roberts can make you pay with either target.

This will be the most physical game on Cecilia's schedule. Breaux Bridge's defense is grizzly, suffocating, aggressive and downright dominant. The Tigers will need to score some points if they want the bragging right.

Rest assured, the folks in Cecilia and Breaux Bridge will be talking about this game for a while, and the players know exactly what is at stake.

Speaking of high stakes, District 4-4A could possibly come down to Carencro knocking off Teurlings. If the Rebels get past the Bears, a sure win awaits them against Opelousas the final week. STM and the rest of the District will be rooting for the Bears this week.

Gabe Duffy, Tyreik Campbell and the Carencro offense will need to bring some consistency. One thing is certain, Cole Kelley and company will figure out the path of least resistance and attack it on offense. No room for mistakes against Sonny Charpentier's crew, but the folks in "The Cro" would love to play spoiler this late in the season...and pick up some power points for the playoffs in the process.

On KPEL 96.5, Ian Auzenne and Brandon Comeaux might need heart pills. New Iberia Senior High (NISH) has lost four games by two scores or less, so they're ready for some breaks to go their way.

NISH will be taking on a Comeaux Spartans team that is learning its identity under Head Coach Doug Dotson. Both teams had their ups and downs this season, so it will be interesting to see which team clicks to run away with this game.

After this, only one week left in the regular season. Is your team ready for the playoffs?
